The Understory

For Andris Mattson’s album the understory, we created a visual world rooted in nature, solitude and quiet contemplation.

Through the photoshoot, we brought Andris into a more intimate relationship with the landscape, using the stillness and rawness of nature to reflect the atmosphere of the album. The result is a visual language that feels warm, honest and slightly otherworldly, echoing the album’s sense of finding light and warmth within the gloominess of the world around us.
